What Calgary decks are dealing with
Calgary gives a deck the worst of everything: 40-degree swings in a single February week, chinook thaw that soaks a deck and then freezes it solid overnight, and a sun angle at 1,045 m that eats stain faster than almost anywhere else in Canada.
Most of the decks we resurface were built in the nineties and early 2000s in established neighbourhoods: Britannia, Elbow Park, Lake Bonavista, Bowness. Good frames, dead surfaces. That combination is exactly what vinyl is for, and it is why a resurface here usually costs a fraction of a rebuild.
The other half of our Calgary work sits over finished living space: walkouts and second-storey balconies. Those get built as roofs, in one welded sheet with the edges carried up behind the siding.
